Will a brita water filter filter out the alcohol in mouthwash?

water filter
impactofreasons asked:

I know that those brita filters can filter out impurities in cheap booze and make them taste alot better. I was wondering if it could filter out the alcohol in mouthwash?
I guess I phrased my question wrong.

I want the alcohol seperated from everything else in the mouthwash. So I want everything else filtered out.

I doubt it. The alcohol would pass right through.

I wonder what it WOULD filter out?

Believe it or not, if you filter it enough you might make the alcohol content higher. Not because more alcohol is being created but because a charcoal filter will not trap alcohol. I doubt that it would change the mouthwash at all, but if anything, it would remove other components of the mouthwash. The easy solution would be to purchase some alcohol free mouthwash and then mix it with the other kind until you had a potency you felt more comfortable with (I am assuming that you are trying to keep it from burning so much.)

Wait? You want to take mouthwash and try to make a cheap vodka out of it? Pretty sure that’s not going to work and might count as operating a still.

No because alcohol isn’t the only liquid used in mouthwash. Also filtering doesn’t separate liquids only removes the solids. Oh and please don’t follow up with a question asking if you can filter NyQuil. LOL!
