why are my guppies dieing after they give birth?

water purifier
Nina asked:

Hey
i have had my guppies for over a month now, the water is the right temperature from what i have read from all the web sites, i have got water purifier to treat the chlorine in the water and everything else lol
3 of my guppies have had fry, one just recently and appears to be dying. My other 2 died, one unfortunately gave still birth to all her babies so i thought that might be why but the guppy that just had baby’s had no problem. I was on vacation the first guppy had her fry so im not sure how that went but i got 8 fry and she died shorty after.
is there anyway to prevent this…or does anyone know whats going on?
much thanks =D

YOU NEED TO PUT HYDRATED LIME SLURRY IN THE TANK OR THEY WILL ALL DIE!

Guppies are pretty young, and that’s probably why they’re dying. They probably can’t handle having babies, if you wanted to have fish like that you prob should have gone for a bigger fish. XD I can’t really give you a better answer, it’s just that smaller animals usually have difficulties.

I have had experience with guppies. Sadly, they commonly have very short life spans, and that may be one reason… And I really mean no offense, but honestly, after a little while you’ll be happy that some are dieing off. Those things can fill a five gallon tank in little more than a year. I hope this is the answer you’re looking for!

I would suggest you go to your pet store where you bought them - or some other pet store and talk to them about it. Maybe show them pictures. And try that slurry thing the other guy said. Fish are particular and each have their own special habitat for being healthy. If some have tail rot, they all will eventually and you need to disinfect and anti-biotic them all.

how recently did you get your tank because if its less than six months the amonia lvls in your tank are too high and you need to buy cheap strong fish till your ammonia lvls are good other wise all the weak fish are gonna die, the more fish the faster the process of the bacteria getting rid of the ammonia because they come for the waste and just happen to get rid of the ammonia so as i said just buy cheap but strong fish for a while, if this isnt the case i dont know what your doing wrong dude maybe there is just a disease in your tank…
