i’m doing a research study about charcoal as water purifier, but I don’t know how to check if it is really pure.

    Only a microscope can prove it. You just have to trust the technology and the product itself.

    Gas chromatography

    At home? That’s going to be hard. You can check with certain test kits you can buy at pool stores (or Wal Mart, in season). You can look for removal of ammonia, chlorine, etc.

    There is some indication that our chemicals such as CL has done well. There some indications that it does not take care of Harmon’s.

    Charcoal works good as a filter but depending on the quality of the water your putting in may or may not work for what your trying to do.
