Water filter on fridge isn’t working, why?
breisingermela asked:
My husband checked to make sure everything was attached and on, we looked in the manual and it said to press on dispenser lever for at least 2 minutes and if they doesn’t work, to change the filter cause it may be clogged. Well we tried all of them and needless to say they didn’t work. We took the NEW filter out again and that was filled with water…if the water line wasn’t working, would it still get to the filter? Any ideas or suggestions before I call the manufacturer or plumber? Thanks in advance.
YES, it is still making ice, just no water.

May 1, 2008 | 12:10 PMIf you have hard or mineralized / rusty water, a place to looks is the connection of the water line to the fridge with a larger house water line. This is usually in the ceiling of the basement, not too far from the bottom of the fridge. The fridge will have a white plastic water line and this is joined to a larger water pipe with a “saddle valve”. These saddle valves can clog and corrode. This may be a source of your problems.
Putting a new saddle valve on is not a hard thing to do.
Good Luck!
