How do you do maintenance on a whole house water filter?

I wish I never bought the crazy thing. it has a prefilter on it I do know how to change except I’m afraid I will bust the pex and want to know if there is an easy way to fix it. I am really wanting to know if anyone has experience replacing the liner in the main system
