class b misdemeanor theft?

i was caught stealing groceries, air purifier, vacuum, and water purifier ($307) from walmart and my pretrial is tomorrow. i had a few questions if anyone can help:
1. what is a pretrial?
2. would i have better luck getting a better deal with an actual attorney or should i stay with my court appointed?
3. i am going to a university in a couple of months will this affect my addmission?
4. i am planning to be a teacher will this affect my certification?
5. is there any way to get this off my record later in life?
6. what is better, guilty or no contest?
7. can i get my record sealed later in life?
