sea monkey help?

water purifier
wolf.viper asked:

I just sea monkeys and I read all the instructions. I put the water purifier in and now I am wondering; would it be alright if I put my sea monkeys in right now? I got the tank set up at 2:00. The instructions say after 24 hours, but I was wanting to put em in now.

The 24 hour thing is to let toxic chlorine evaporate from the water. Unless you can add a dechlorinator to the water, wait the full time.

You’re better off just following the instructions. If you put them in now, the chemicals in the water will kill them and you will regret your foolish decision. :(

Sea monkeys, in case you didn’t know are actually Brine shrimp. These shrimp are used commonly to feed baby fry (fish). I have had to make batches for my own fry and need them soon. What you can do is take a bottle of purified water, add some salt (preferable aquarium salt) and put your air stone within the jar or however the water is being airated, because of how forcibly the bubbles come from the airbubble I cover mine with clean pieces of pantyhose,it makes the bubbles come out finer. Let that sit about an hour and then take your eggs (aka brine shrimp eggs) and put them in, about 1/4 tablespoon per 8 oz of water. They should hatch around 22 hours. I’ve had a few hatch around 14 hours. But yes, unfortunately you have to be patient.
