How do you prime a diesel fuel/water separator filter?
howdy asked:
My F250 does not seem to be getting fuel past the filter. I drained the filter to let water out and now I think I need to fill/prime the filter, but am unsure how to do this…

September 1, 2007 | 3:32 PMyour truck is probably equipped with an element type filter so i would change the element too.remove the top and lift the filter element out and replace it-then fill the canister full of fuel before you replace the top-i use a quart of transmission fluid(type f) to fill mine to clean the injector tips as the truck runs.(hope this helps).

September 4, 2007 | 2:12 PMIf you got water in your filter then it needs changing. Although you drained the filter it is contaminated and diesel will not pass through it. Fill the new filter and prime the system and it should be o.k. Not familiar with an F250 , some systems will prime automatically when turn the engine over but others need to be bled to get rid of any air in the system.
