How can I manage the second hand smoke that comes into my apt. from my neighbors?
ArmsAndMan asked:
I just moved into a new apt, a beautiful complex next to the ocean. I happen to have smokers who live on the balcony to my left, and one who lives just downstairs. Even with my windows closed, the odor seeps into my living space. I am a non-smoker and I my eyes water and my breathing is impaired. I just ordered an air purifier with activated charcoal, and that might help, but one expert warns that it will not work quickly, or on demand, to counter act the odors that invade my living space. Help!

March 21, 2009 | 1:39 AMyou need ventilation.and actually believe it or not they are invading your airspace if you want to be an ***.Meaning legally you can force them to filter the air before it is released. Some states are even outlawing smoking and bar-b q on apartment balconies.

March 24, 2009 | 12:31 PMGet an air purifier with ionizer. This will change the air to a better sweet smelling air. You could talk to your neighbors to seek their cooperation too. If not, you could lit some aromatherapy incense or candles to freshen up your room.

April 4, 2009 | 2:33 PMThe proper answer is with HEPA filters. Air purifiers are only as good as the engineering before the manufacturing process. Air conditioning has no viable way to eliminate the toxic contamination(hidden in odors).
To rid yourself from the damaging effects of toxic paint fumes, you will need to have MSAH filters in combination with HEPA. But, you will rid yourself of possible lung damage.
