home water filter has white stuff in the drinking water?
Jeff asked:
why is that. it looks like a white dust in the water. If you let it set for a few minutes it will almost completely dissolve. I’d like to know what that is, and if its bad to drink.

the water filter is supposed to be really sophisticated, and be of better quality than arrowhead bottled water.

March 24, 2007 | 12:58 PMIf the filter is new, it’s probably washing off some of the filter media that is hanging which will eventually disappear after several use.
However, if the filter has been used long enough that it needs replacement, your water may be recontaminated by the chemicals it’s suppose to remove. It’s called “breakthrough.”
If the filter pore is too clogged, filtered water may not be able to pass through but instead wash off those contaminants into your supposedly filtered water.
So, it’s better to change your filter as recommended.
