I want to buy a filter of some sort to filter the tap water for drinking purposes. It’s an old nyc apartment with a shared kitchen, so I don’t want to be installing anything especially since I’ll be moving out next year. What’s the best way to filter the water?

I opened a Pur water filter replacement, and there was some water inside. Are they usually wet? I remember them being pretty dry and you had to soak them. Do you think moisture got into the package? There was enough water for there to be droplets on the filter and package.

I just purchased a Berkey water filter and installed all the components and even tried conditioning them, but my water still continues to look very cloudy. What’s wrong?

I’m thinking the MSR SweetWater, but I’d like to hear what others think. Often the water I use would come from Lake Superior and backcountry streams. Thanks for your help.
Or should I use purifying tablets? Which brands?

Jason Z asked: I’ve got a bad habit of opening a bottle of water, drinking less than half and leaving it somewhere, then forgetting about it and opening a new one.
I understand after a couple days (especially if left uncapped) this is an all-inclusive party for bacteria growth.
Rather than throwing these half-consumed bottles of water, would an effective treatment be to run them through my PUR or Brita Water pitcher in the fridge?

The unit has the motor on top and it sits on top of the water bowl and it swirls the water around in the bowl. You can also add fragrances to it. They showed on of them on an info-mercial.

My plumber recently installed a water filtration system under my kitchen sink and when he left I noticed that the filter was hooked up to the hot water instead of cold. I called him and asked him what to do and he told me to shut the water off. So now I am just wondering if it has been damaged because of the hot water running through it. Thanks in advance!

I’m looking for another water purifier. Water Wise has raised their prices too much! Sears no long makes one. What do you recommend for less than $300?
