What is the best water filter for a 40 gal turtle tank?

water filter
ninety_sixmustang asked:

I’m starting to plan a new home for my 4 inch long red-eared slider. Right now it’s in a 5.5 gal tank. I’m planning on getting him (or her) a 40 gallon breeder tank. What is the best filter for this tank? I was looking at the Fluval 205. Is this going to filter the water well? (110 gph, up to 40 gallons) Are there any other filters that anybody else uses? I’m trying to spend as little as possible obviously but will not pass up a good filter either. It also loves to dig, what is a good substrate to use so that he can’t dig into it? Right now I have small pebbles on the bottom of the tank with a big plastic log for basking.

My Kinetico water filter and softener have started occasionally making my water salty. What can I do about it?

water filter
mbm asked:

I have a 4-year-old Kinetico water filtration system and softener. In the past six months, I have started having salty water from the tap on occasion. When we had the filter serviced, we mentioned this and he said it was normal but it never used to do it. I think either the filter or the softener isn’t functioning properly but don’t know what to do about it.

aquavie water purifier?

water purifier
Jeff asked:

I saw a commercial for aquavie water purifier. If you don’t know what it is, look it up on youtube and you should find a clip of it. you pour water in the container, turn it on, it evaporates the water, and basically makes it rain in the other container i think. it supposidly removes 99.9% of contaminents. Is this worth buying or not? it’s about 290.00, but i spend about 10 a week on bottled water, so if it works it’ll save me a TON of money.
This link goes to a vid that shows it being used. http://www.aquavieforlife.com/?uid=G_Trademarkss_kwcid=aqua%20vie|451898146
