Why is a distiller better to have than a regular water filter and where can I purchase one?

water filter
Leela asked:

I have heard that it is better to own a distiller rather than filtering or boiling tap water. Is it really the most effective at cleaning out the toxins from our drinking water?

I need to choose a water filter/purifier.but its a dilemma?

water purifier
KingAnswer asked:

I am in a DILEMMA!
I was going to make a purchase for an RO sytem from one of the well-known brands in India (Eureka-Forbes). When I booked an RO system, the salesman who came to my place told me that I do not need an RO (as the TDS level was around 275, and RO is recommended only for above 500).

Then Forbes has launched a brand called Aquasure, which is non-electrical, filter based model (it uses the usual candles and a new one called Razon filter… i dont know if i am spelling it right)… now this is a real cheap one…

But my dilemma is that EVERY other dealer I have spoken with, claims that there is nothing better than RO, whereas this brand says that I might end up doing more harm by losing some vital minerals if I put RO for levels of TDS below 500 …

What should I do??… pls help !!!

Going to Ecuador. Is a UV water filter a good choice?

water purifier
Tara for OBAMA! asked:

Going into Quito, then to the Amazon for 2 weeks. I was wondering if a UV water purifier would be better than the potable aqua tablets? I only want to kill bacteria so I dont get sick, so which is best? Anyone have experience with either?!

Thanks!
So what type of aftertaste to the tablets have?

Oh, and I will be going through the jungle in the Amazon Basin for an ecological thing. The station we are staying at runs off river water, so I will probably be using those tablets a lot.

Does a water filter do any good?

water filter
gomanyes562 asked:

Does filtering water before drinking it actually do anything to it? According to the water quality reports, tap water in the US is safe to drink, so I am wondering if the filter serves as mainly a psychological thing. Can anyone point to any studies on this?
Yeah, I know how the charcoal in the filter is supposed to work. I was just wondering if there are really any impurities to begin with.

Implications of large amounts of iron in water supply in Third World Country?

water purifier
DeeDeeMac asked:

A reg. charity working in 3rd World Country has had well water for a community tested. Major amounts of iron have been found, and we want to know the implications for the health of the community, particularly the children, with this level of iron. This is the community’s only source of water. If we supply water purifiers, will this remove the iron content?
