    I think they are. Because the companies are greedy, so they use all these elaborate things to paint a better picture to empty your wallet. Could theirs possibly be better? Yep. But you are still getting better quality water w/ a home version than you are w/ regular tap water.

    I use a Pur 2 stage filter in my kitchen, just one of those that screws onto the faucet, and keep a Pur 2 stage pitcher filter in the fridge. According to their claims the 2 stage is certified to “reduce” Chlorine and byproducts, heavy metals, sediment, microbial cysts, agricultural pollutants and industrial pollutants.

    I don’t really worry about most of that stuff because I have a private water well and the closest other well is over a mile away. My water comes from an underground “river” and occasionally gets tiny grains of sand in it so besides any of the other pollutants the Pur filter takes out, it keeps the sand out of my coffee.

    I can’t tell that it makes any difference in the taste of my water, and I do drink a lot of water straight from the tap, but it does seem to make a difference in the taste of my coffee and tea.

    The drinking water that enters our home can contain as many as 2000 contaminants and impurities. Water companies treat the water with chlorine that kill some pollutants but leaves the water containing chlorine which is known to be an extremely harmful substance.
    The best way to replace them is by drinking water. But the water must be safe, clean and pure.
